Scott packs his field vest like a soldier going to battle — field guide in the front pocket, magnifying glass on his belt, notebook in a ziplock bag because adventure usually means getting wet. He arrives at Willow Creek Nature Camp with four and a half billion years of meteorite to talk about, and one question from a boy named Tyler gets him an entire geological era in a single breath. Then a kid at the far end of the circle asks what a word means, waits for the answer, and doesn’t make it sound like a punishment.
